Amnesty TV 50th birthday

25 Jul 2011 | 0 Comments

To mark 50 years of hard work by Amnesty International, the world's biggest human rights organisation, Amnesty International UK has launched Amnesty TV, a new 15 minute long web TV show that mixes satirical comedy, campaign stunts, short documentaries, outspoken opinion and real news around global human rights campaigns.

Episode 1, which is currently available to view at www.amnestytv.co.uk stars our very own Heydon Prowse as he approaches the embassies of China, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the US to ask if they would like to join in the fun at Amnesty’s birthday party – needless to day this didn’t go down very well! The episode also includes a special anniversary greeting from Burma's Aung San Suu Kyi, a chat from Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on Internet freedom, and a satirical recruitment/training video on the controversial security techniques used during deportation from the UK.

The masterminds behind Amnesty TV include established writers, film makers and digital artists such as: Mike Bradley former producer/director at Charlie Brooker's  'News Wipe' and ‘Sreen Wipe'; Neil Boorman former magazine editor, columnist and author and creator of C4 show ‘Shoreditch Tw*t’; Chris Atkins writer/director of ‘Taking Liberties’ and ‘Starsuckers’; video prankster Cassetteboy; writer/director duo Misery Bear and internationally renowned illustrator and designer Anthony Burrill providing the graphics.
